Insert Slips Out!

Topic: Insert slips out. Old & New Inserts

Tools: needle nose pliers

This tip is mostly intended for the older style inserts that don’t have the Rib built into them. Below is a picture of the newer style insert with the rib. Zippo added this feature in 1999.

Through the years the tight grip the Zippo Case, once had, looses its grip and the Insert slips out a bit making it hard to open and close the Lid.

This is an easy fix to do.

1- Remove insert. Take the needle nose pliers and put the tips just INSIDE the insert. Now open the pliers. Do this with caution. You don’t want to distort the insert. This will OPEN the opening of the Insert and allow it to grip onto the Case better. Also squeeze the case opening. This will grip the top of the insert.

Once this is done insert the Insert into the case and marvel in what you have done. You can do this to the new style inserts if they don’t grip well.

Enjoy,
